Experts Look for Solutions to the Water Problem

With all the talk and hubbub about the lack of water in the Las Vegas area, it is only fitting that even the experts are baffled as to the solution for the problem.  The concept of easily fixing lost resources on the scale of the Las Vegas gambling mecca in the desert is laughable.  The consequences of decades of misuse of the water supply and available resources of the city that exists squarely in the middle of the Nevada desert will be harsh and severe, with no readily apparent long-term solution to the problem.  While many plans and ideas are bandied back and forth between community leaders and environmental planners, there is little indication as to any specific agreement on which plan or what solution might be considered to be suitable.

The plan that seems to get the most attention lately is the idea of piping water from the North Nevada desert down to the Las Vegas area.  While this idea is somewhat solid, and can provide a short-term solution to the problem, the long-term practicality of a pipeline, similar to those that are used in oil refineries and fields, stretching across the Nevada desert for hundreds of miles is somewhat unrealistic, and borders on laughable.  Despite this, Las Vegas planners, responsible for the tremendous amount of revenue that is generated by the Las Vegas shows and Las Vegas attractions in the area, have come together again and again and repeated attempts to come up with suitable ideas and concepts that might work to provide some type of stopgap or at least some temporary relief in the problem.

With water levels constantly dropping and more and more Las Vegas visitors coming into the gaming and gambling capital of the world every day, as well as those who are considering relocating to the area, it seems that a long-term solution and a realistic plan is still out of reach of community planners.  Without some type of realistic idea of how to go about replenishing the Las Vegas water supply, Las Vegas city planners and establishment proprietors are at a loss as to what action to take and how to mitigate the damage caused by the loss of the Las Vegas area water supply.

Experts continue to probe the area for a solution, but at this point it is looking somewhat grim for the Las Vegas area water supply and the future of the Las Vegas area in general

Las Vegas Sands Corporation Looks to Banking Institutions for Assistance in Singapore

Filed under: Las Vegas — @ 9:45 pm

The Las Vegas Sands Corporation, world-famous for the operations in Las Vegas such as their Las Vegas hotels and casinos as well as the ubiquitous Las Vegas shows and Las Vegas attractions that they sponsor, has come across a potentially troubling stumbling block in their expansion plans for the international community, particularly Singapore.  With the investments that the Las Vegas Sands Corporation has made into the multitude of expansions in recent years, the Las Vegas Sands Corporation has dug deeply into its corporate pockets and is feeling the strain, despite strong earnings through pre-existing gambling and gaming outlets that continue to generate revenue.  Considering that the venerable Corporation stands to earn tremendous amounts of revenue from these new ventures, it only makes sense to invest as much as possible into successfully administrating these types of massive international deals.  With the construction of new super casinos and other gambling establishments around the world, the Las Vegas Sands Corporation indicates its awareness of the recently soured United States economy.  By spreading the efforts to generate revenue into the international and global economy, the Las Vegas Sands Corporation stands to earn a tremendous amount of overall income that will replace a significant portion of the revenue that was formerly generated in the United States but has recently begun to dwindle.

By expanding the horizons and focusing on the global market and bringing Las Vegas shows and Las Vegas attractions to foreign lands, the Las Vegas hotel and casino operations Company is successfully banking on the global community and tourists and visitors who travel the world on a regular basis, spending money liberally.  With these types of mega-resorts and attractions, it is easy to see how there could be a tremendous draw similar to that experienced by most Las Vegas shows and Las Vegas attractions and the world-famous Las Vegas hotels and casinos.

While it is doubtful that the Las Vegas Sands Corporation will have any problems repaying the debt incurred by this most recent bout of lending, the original plan called for less reliance on lending institutions and more dependence on the capital that the Las Vegas Sands Corporation has access to on a regular basis in the form of liquid assets.  Despite this downturn in events, it seems like the world-famous Las Vegas hotel and casino operations organization has little but positive news to look forward to in the long run, as their investments continue to pay off.

Las Vegas Focuses on Attracting International Real Estate Investors

Filed under: Las Vegas — @ 9:45 pm

With the recent slump in the housing market across the United States, Las Vegas has not been immune and has felt the tension of the real estate market slump nearly as badly as many other cities around the nation.  Naturally, in Las Vegas, where there is such a dependence on Las Vegas shows and Las Vegas attractions to prop up the economy, there is a tendency to take action, strong and decisive, and this case is no exception.  The powers that be in Las Vegas have focused their efforts on promoting Las Vegas real estate investment properties on the international stage.  This attempt to attract global real estate investors from around the world is a clear indication of Las Vegas homeowners and real estate investors belief that the United States real estate market is in a severe downward spiral that it might not recover from anytime soon.  With this focus on and concern for the housing slump in the real estate market, the actions of the Las Vegas area homeowners and property investors who are trying to sell homes make perfect sense.  Since the local area real estate market has been engaged in a reduced capacity of returns, the international focus on marketing and advertising real estate in the Las Vegas area will very likely bring in a new source of cash to Las Vegas home sellers.

Some of the methods for advertising overseas and in foreign markets are similar to the methods used in domestic markets, such as classified ads, television and radio.  But some are less than conventional, as the Internet offers a massive variety of options that Las Vegas home sellers can take advantage of.  Some of these options include virtual tours and advertising of home rentals.  By offering up vacant homes to vacationing couples and families, Las Vegas residents can stand to earn enough from rentals to catch up with default mortgages or even invest in more homes.  While this market of rental homes is somewhat limited, it provides a method for paying the mortgage when no other relief might be available.

Las Vegas Comes under Fire from Lawmakers

With the recent ruling by legislators that requires 25% of all winnings be withheld from winnings that total any amount over $5,000, it would seem that many higher-level poker and casino players have very little desire to participate in the high-level games anymore.  Considering that it is easier to win two $2500 jackpot and it is to win a $5000 jackpot anyway, it seems obvious that players might shy away from any type of activity that requires them to shell out a full 25% of their winnings for the government to take advantage of.  Considering the lucrative odds in Las Vegas and the amount of losses that are incurred on a regular basis, many gamers claim that the 25% tax is highly unfair due to the fact that the money is basically earned and not won, considering the amount of investment that is required before the player actually begins to win.  It is difficult to argue with that logic, as the government rarely gives tax credit for the amount that the player loses in the poker room and casino, but has no problem with assigning taxes to the profits that are earned in these types of establishments.  With this double standard, many gamblers and gamers feel that they are being poorly taken advantage of and that this type of taxation is somewhat unfair as there is no reciprocity involved.

As Las Vegas establishment proprietors begin to wonder what type of future they might actually have in the long run, the government has created a whole new generation of players who are less than pleased with the type of legislation coming from their world leaders and elected politicians in Washington.  With all of the attention by lawmakers, it is certainly far more difficult for the world-famous Las Vegas hotels and casinos to continue to generate income with the reluctance of players to participate in the higher level and high limit games.  Considering that every time the player wins $5,000 or more they are required to give up 25% on the spot, it isn’t hard to see that many players will be less than enthusiastic about this type of arrangement.  It is very likely that in the future, the amount of players willing to participate in these higher level and far more lucrative competitions will continue to dwindle.

Las Vegas Focuses on International Marketing

The list of statistics that focus on the rise and fall of production and other types of economic indicators since the 9/11 bombings that politicians and people in corporate suits like to drag out and quote from as frequently as possible is endless.  This focus on minute and infinitesimal statistics does reveal, however, that visitors from international destinations to Las Vegas has been reduced by nearly 3% overall since the 9/11 bombings.  Las Vegas attractions and Las Vegas shows that have Americans flocking to the Las Vegas area to participate in and spend time in Las Vegas hotels and casinos are not nearly enough to bring in international travelers that represent an additional income for the Las Vegas area.  Attracting these travelers with new marketing and advertising programs is the focus of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority tourism group, which focuses on bringing in tourism dollars and finding ways to increase the general income from tourism in the Las Vegas area overall.  The authority has decided that more effort has to be expanded into attracting visitors from areas such as the United Kingdom, Mexico and Canada, considered to be prime international markets.  But the focus is not simply on these major areas, as areas such as India, Brazil, China, Australia, Korea, Japan, France and Germany all represent available advertising targets, targets that are suitable for the type of marketing and advertising effort that Las Vegas is known for.

The expenditures put forth by groups in the Las Vegas area, in addition to Las Vegas hotels and casinos, which advertise all over the world on a regular basis independently of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority tourism group and what ever ongoing projects that might be in the works, will bring new exposure to the Las Vegas area and the worldwide campaign to bring in new gambling and gaming dollars from visitors focused on enjoying Las Vegas shows and attractions.  In the past, Las Vegas has traditionally spent exorbitant amounts of funds on advertising in foreign locations, but this increased effort to bring in foreign visitors from areas such as India, China, Australia, Korea, Japan, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Mexico and even Canada will cost as much as $17 million in the year of 2008, quite an increase from the normal $12 million that has been spent annually on international marketing.  While the Las Vegas new slogan and heavy usage of commercials has helped bring in additional American visitors to the Las Vegas area, there has been no such push for international visitors in recent years.  With new Las Vegas marketing efforts, this is likely to change.

Las Vegas Casino Pool Parties

Filed under: Las Vegas — @ 7:46 pm

Las Vegas hotels and casinos have always been famous for putting on all manner of over-the-top and outlandish spectacles to attract visitors to the Las Vegas attractions and Las Vegas shows that are available in many luxurious Las Vegas hotels, but recently, the focus has been on outlandish and insanely over-the-top pool parties.  Casinos spend all kinds of money into investing in huge renovations and massive pool areas that attract visitors from out of the Las Vegas heat and into the stunning pools and landscapes that allow users to cool themselves.  Naturally, Las Vegas hotels and casinos tend to provide far more than the average pool going experience, with frozen treats at poolside, a fully stocked bar, all manner of gambling and the usual attractions such as shows, ice slides and all manner of amazing and innovative attractions and entertainment spectacles.  With this focus on providing all manner of fun and excitement at poolside parties that last all day and all night, Las Vegas brings in more and more visitors seeking the wild and fun spring break lifestyle without leaving their hotel.

The appointments and amenities invested into the poolside area are stunning to say the least.  Cabanas are lavishly appointed, with fully functioning, fully furnished areas for dressing and relaxing and the pool area itself features every possible imaginable amenity that the Las Vegas visitor could possibly desire.  Las Vegas hotels and casinos go one step farther and provide free cabanas to local exotic dancers in order to lure them poolside, where they can in turn lure others into partying poolside and getting into the full on Las Vegas gambling mode.  Getting players in the mood to play is the entire point of all this debauchery, after all, and no expense is spared in the quest to get players ready to hit the gaming tables and play poker, blackjack or roulette till the sun comes up.

The multitude of entertainment and options for fun and excitement in Las Vegas don’t just end with the strip, as when the sun comes up in the morning, all manner of Las Vegas visitors head straight for the pool to soak away hangovers and enjoy a new day in the Las Vegas party atmosphere.  With this combination of peaceful relaxation and wide open and nonstop partying, Las Vegas hotels and casinos cover all the bases and attract every possible visitor to the Las Vegas area to their over-the-top poolside parties.

Las Vegas Population Burgeoning-Real Estate Continues to Boom

The age-old laws of supply and demand has been put to good effect in Las Vegas.  As more and more users move to the area and more demand is placed onto available living spaces and properties, the prices and values of available homes have begun to rise, slightly outpacing the national average.  Despite the housing slump in many markets, Las Vegas has remained strong and has had a history of doing so during all manner of hard economic times that have affected the nation.  Despite economic pressures in other areas, Las Vegas has always managed to stand strong and outpace the inflation and deflation that has occurred in the rest of the nation.  While global trends have had even less of an effect on Las Vegas, it is interesting to note that they have caused even less of an impact on Las Vegas financial well-being than the difficulties of the United States itself.  In the modern day, the tremendous demand for living space and real estate in Las Vegas has caused a tremendous amount of pressure on homeowners and homebuyers attempting to move into the area, as investors and homeowners alike compete for available properties on the market.

While new construction has begun to wane due to the difficulty in establishing residential areas that can still be developed without encroaching upon national wildlife preserves in the area, existing home sales have soared, as new users and new residents in the area have put a demand on available properties in an attempt to secure the best available housing.  More and more new residents in the area cause more difficulties over all, as prices began to climb and new residents begin to see the value in paying slightly more to live closer to the areas that are located in prime sections of town that are adjacent to the strip or other areas that interest the new resident.  As these prices keep increasing, new residents continue to pay them, creating a cycle of supply and demand that causes escalating prices overall.  While this at first can benefit existing home sellers, in the future it can cause all manner of problems with inflation and deflation of local valuations.

It is these types of variations in the future valuation of real estate that the national Association of realtors works towards preventing.  In Las Vegas, with its tremendous amount of Las Vegas attractions and Las Vegas shows, it is slightly more difficult to control the widely varying fluctuations in real estate values that occur with erratic supply and demand issues.
